Witless Bay, 12 March 2011

Witless Bay south side out to Witless Point and return.

Heading out the bay.

Regrouping at Witless Point to discuss our next move, conditions were getting worse as we made our way around the point.

Tony taking it head-on.

Stan manouvering in the surf.

Clyde poised and ready.

Playing in the surf is fun and a great place to develop kayak handling skills but can also be dangerous...rocks and cold temperatures. I ended capsizing today, my first combat roll. All those hours practicing at St Philips and the pool payed off.

'The old salt' gazing upon the sea.

Stan, always ready to capture the action shots.

There is a certain mentality that 'outdoors people' have... no matter what the conditions they are always smilling.

Garry and Stan checking out the ice.

Tony poking around the rocks.

Cape Broyle

Tony, Tobias, Dean, Clyde, Gerard and myself paddled out of Cape Broyle to Coughlan Cove and return.

Tony taking a brisk shower.

Tobias and a young seal checking each other out.

Lunch at Coughlan Cove

Exiting one of the numerous caves.

Bay Bulls, 6 June 2010

The weather forecast was not promising, rain and high winds, but we decided to check it out anyways...I am glad we did.

Lots of fog, but by noon it was clear.

Clyde exiting a cave.

Rather large cave.

We ran into Gerard who was hard at work guiding a tour.

You would think they could find a better spot to build a nest.

Lunch.

Back safe and sound.
